DOM visit for on-the-job training in calibration (2016)

Four technical officers from Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology (DOM) visited WMO/RIC Tsukuba from 8 to 19 February 2016 for on-the-job training in meteorological instrument calibration as part of the Technical Cooperation Project for Improving of Meteorological Observation, Weather Forecasting and Dissemination in Sri Lanka run by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The trainees discussed and practiced calibration procedures and developed guidelines to support traceability and the improvement of calibration/inspection relating to temperature and pressure.

The training is considered to have been successful and to have contributed to the mutual development of meteorological services provided by DOM and JMA in connection with RICs's key roles of assisting WMO Members in calibrating their national meteorological standards and related environmental monitoring instruments.
